Right at the departure in Eagle it started to rain...

The Calico Bluff is unfortunately not so beautiful to look at in the rain...

The steep bank (Bluff) was named around the turn of the century. By its unusual appearance it was used as a landmark by the residents of this area. It consists of limestone and slate and is about 320 million years old. In the limestone there, one can find marine fossils.

I really thought at first it was a mini volcanic eruption ...

However, there are no volcanoes in this area, as far as I know ...

The shape of the fire is however very, very unusual, as it turned out after the trip, an underground coal deposit burns there !

A cave at the Nation River, I've always wanted to climb up there but the millions of mosquitoes have always kept me from it....

If you are a mountaineer, go up there and tell me what is in the cave... ;)

Rock of Ages, usually there are big waves, but at the high water they all drowned...lol...

"Rock of Ages". He was a big danger in the days of the paddle steamers. It consists for the most part of dolomite. The name comes from the age of the stones, about 4.7 billion years. This makes it one of the oldest deposits in the region!

It is really nice that there are many nice cabins where you can stay overnight in Alaska!  Therefore it upsets me even more when stupid Tourists dare to stay in private cabins !

Please treat the cabin with respect so that other travelers can still enjoy it !

A steam tractor on a hill in the bush

It was used to transport coal and supplies to a mine. It is worth stopping there because the tractor is still in very good condition.

Unfortunately Lutz has to stay on the Kat, because it is impossible for him to climb the slope ! His Yukon tour will probably have an end at the Slaven Cabin...

Our catamarans in front of the cabin

Via Sat Phone Lutz has ordered a seaplane to fly him to Fairbanks, his journey on the Yukon River is over here...

Too bad that some people do not listen to what I say, there is a reason why I say things!

This incident could have been prevented...

Loui assists Lutz on the plane

As we learned later, he actually broke his foot and tore his tendons !

It's really annoying, with listening to what I said this wouldn't have happened!

Still, it's very sad for Lutz, but he's not really the outdoorsy type, so he prefers to travel to the cities and go partying.
Which is what he did after the trip to the Yukon...
