Pilot Station - Emmonak - Bering Sea
The catamaran on the Andreafsky River. A short forced break, our impeller on the engine was faulty we had to change it. It was really fun in the deep mud... |
After the repair we remained at the Andreafsky River for a few more days, because the ascent of the salmon just started, we didn't want to miss it!
Salmon fillet!
Yummy, yummy salmon, it doesn't get fresher ...
And David was a very good cook !
Suicide Help Card in the Pilot Point wash house.
Suicide is unfortunately a very big problem
at the whole Yukon River, which affects especially the young people.....
After about 3260 km we arrived in Emmonak. There we gave away our surplus food to some locals which was gratefully accepted.
Early in the morning we went to the Bering Sea, the end of our journey !
David and I on the island at the end of the Yukon River,
Hey Andreas Kieling where are the glaciers you filmed here...? ;)

Jake & Eunice Johnson
The Johnson family took us to the seal hunt!
( The seal could escape ! )
The trip over a branch of the Yukon to the Bering Sea was very cold due to the fast boat...
Arriving at the Johnson's hunting cabin, we had to wait for the tide to get out to the Bering Sea.
Eunice had taken precautions and enough tasty things with her, so we hadn't had to wait too long !
The tide was very late so we had to drive back to Emmonak in the dark along the coast of the Bering Sea, a really great experience!
