Conversion & Equipment Trike

Fresh from the shop, the HP Velotechnik fx was just a weekend trike and nothing for long trips ...
Unfortunately, as with almost all manufacturers, only cheap add-on parts were used ex works, which is a shame considering the purchase price!
The rims a joke, the seat a real horror, etc. ...
Without modifications the trike is not usable, if you really have the intention to ride it !

But at the end of it.
(after all my modifications)
I'm almost satisfied with the
HP-Velotechnik - Scorpion fx !

Compared to my last ICE Trike, the suspension is much better!

I can now be seen very well even without the LED rear lights switched on ...

The SON hub dynamo is great and the Lumotec IQ Fly's 60 lux LED light is bright!

My GPS devices are now on the handlebars in the field of view !

I added Winglights bicycle turn signals, in the new steel version.

The suspension is very good, much better than the last ICE Trike !

Since the spring element was completely open, I first covered it reasonably. Now it is better protected from dirt and water

Since the original rims were once again absolutely cheap parts, I had new wheels built,

with 32mm wide ( welded ) ODYSSEY Hazard Lite 5-chamber system rims .

They can take much more than the originals from HP

Slowly the trike is getting really good...

To be on the safe side, I replaced my hydraulic brakes with mechanical AVID BB7 !

The mechanical brakes are easier to repair on the way ...

The hand rests are a real gain in comfort when riding a trike. They relieve the arms enormously on longer tours.

I don't want to miss them anymore !

The Schwalbe Big Apple are the ideal tires for me !

I changed the 1 chainring to a 3
(48/38/28) so that the unfolding is now correct.

I now have two water bottles in front of the seat, and I may be able to fit two more in there ....
The SKS ANYWHERE bottle holders are really great!

The carrier also got a low rider in addition so I can attach 4 Ortlieb bags to the trike now !

Good that I have small bags on the Low Rider, the big ones wouldn't fit on the Scorpion fx anymore with the TerraCycle mount ...

The Ventisit seat cushion is absolutly perfect, no wet back at any temperature and it is super comfortable.
The mat has already proven itself in 2009 & 2014.

On long rides, the Scorpion's mesh seat is an absolute disaster. It's about the most uncomfortable thing I've ever seen on a trike. ....

Due to the Ventisit, the

 " Scorpion Torture Seat "

is now bearable even on long tours ...

But that still doesn't change the stupid 3 point fixing of the net seat, because due to this construction error the seat can't be adjusted properly, thanks to HP Velotechnik ...

Of course I use a Radical Design Cyclone trailer again, there is nothing better !

The Cyclone trailer also fits very well, unfortunately I have to get another mounting,

the luggage carrier rests on the mounting plate when compressed ...

I have to have a mount that is fixed to the swingarm itself, so that the mount gets lower and doesn't sit on the clutch when the spring is compressed...

That's why I built the original mount to the HP mount, that should work..

The fact that the trike can be folded in a few seconds is an advantage. So far the folding mechanism works perfectly !
