I wont go with the expensive Nagra or so...

Four tracks of simultaneous recording and interchangeable mic capsules make the H5 flexible and powerful
The preamp of the H5 is not the best but for normal sounds it is fully ok. Only for the very quiet environments it is not quiet enough, you can hear preamp noise.
The H5 portable ‘Handy Recorder’ is designed for multitrack live event recording, broadcast, or ENG situations. It provides over fifteen hours of operation with 2x AA alkaline battery cells, and can simultaneously record up to four tracks of audio. The include shock-mounted microphone capsule allows X/Y audio capture up to 140dB SPL, whilst optional and interchangeable audio input capsules provide a number of differing input methods.
Recording directly to 16MB to 2GB SD card or 4GB to 32GB SDHC card, the Hrecords up to 24-bit/96kHz in BWF-compliant WAV format, or 48 to 320kbps in MP3 format. Internal processing allows to employ low-cut filtering, compression, limiting.
It's so small that you can always have it with you, it's very beneficial not have to carry the big set all, the time !

The MSH-6 capsule for the H5 contains a unidirectional forward-facing microphone element as well as a bi-directional, side-facing microphone element to capture audio otherwise known as ‘mid-side’. Extremely important pieces of equipment are fur windscreens in all variations!
These DEAD CAT windscreens are available in many variations.
They are not cheap at all, but they are worth every penny!
Because without them every recording outside will be destroyed by wind noise!
